Tip of the Week: Sandy Tools

Tip of the Week: Sandy Tools

Hey there all of you Garden of Eden fans out there and welcome to our latest edition of “Tip of the Week,” where we provide all of you some tips and tricks to keep your indoor flowers and outdoor gardens looking spectacular all the year through! This week, we're telling you how you can keep your garden tools clean, sharp, and easily accessible with a simple addition to your garden! Believe it or not, a pot filled with sand and mineral oil is all that you need to keep your tools clean and sharp all season long.  Since sand is naturally abrasive and mineral oil can get dirt out with little effort, this combination will keep your tools sharp and clean, respectively. To do this, you first need to take a bag of sand, and pour it into a large bucket.  Then add 20-30 ounces of mineral oil into the mix, and stir until you have the oil evenly distributed throughout the sand.  The mixture should not be soupy or sandy, but just the right amount of oily. Then, transfer the sand into a pot, pack it down, and you're done!  Now every time you put in and pull out your tools, they will automatically be cleaned and sharpened, with no extra effort on your end.  It's just another easy tip that makes gardening easier! For more gardening tips and tricks, be sure to check back every Monday for our latest Tip of the Week!
