This Tuesday, many people around the world will be the recipients of wonderful flowers, but how do you care for them—and more importantly—how do you keep them fresh?  Well, while there is no magic additive that will make your flowers last forever, there are a few things you can do to keep their beauty a little longer. One simple tip is to cut the stems of your flowers on an angle whenever you put them in your vase, or change out the water.  You don’t need to take off a lot, but just enough to where the water has a clear path to the flower. Another useful tip is to change out your water regularly, about every three days or so.  That way you know that your flowers is getting water free of bacteria, which will inevitably help it last longer. Speaking of bacteria, one quick way to keep its growth at a minimum is to add in a few drops of vodka every day.  Like other alcohols, vodka has the ability to kill bacteria, which will turn out to be very beneficial for your flower.  However, do not overdo it, as you may just hurt your flower! All flowers are beautiful, and with these simple tips, you can make your flowers last a little longer after Valentine’s Day.
