Tip of the Week: Butterfly Feeders
Share
Hey there all of you Garden of Eden fans out there and welcome to our latest edition of “Tip of the Week,” where we provide all of you some tips and tricks to keep your indoor flowers and outdoor gardens looking spectacular all the year through! Join us this week, as we give you an easy way to attract some powerful pollinators for your garden, the butterfly! Between the birds and the bees, pollination is incredibly important for your garden, but sometimes it can be a little hard to get those pollinators over in the first place. Thankfully, butterflies are not only an excellent pollinator, but can be easily attracted with only a few household items. All you need to get the butterflies over are a sponge, sugar, water, and a plate. First, heat the water in a saucepan on the stove, and then mix in one part sugar for every 10 parts of water (so for 2 cups of water mix in about a ¼ cup of sugar) until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it cool, and then spoon it onto the sponge which is sitting on the plate, making sure that is is absorbing the water but not overflowing. Find a nice spot by your garden, set down the plate, and wait for all of the incredibly colored butterflies to come running your way.
