The Kadupul Flower

The Kadupul Flower

Our flower of the month is another rare and enchanting plant with unique features. The Kadupul Flower, also known as the Queen of the NIght flower, is a tropical rainforest native found in parts of India, South America and Mexico. It belongs to the cactus family, making it a unique member of the typically arid-climate family. It is known as Queen of the Night because it blooms only at night and wilts before dawn, lasting only a few hours. In Sri Lankan culture, this plant is sacred and is often associated with celestial beings. It is believed to bring good luck and spiritual and mystical experiences.

Like some of our flowers of the month in the past, the Kadupul Flower is cited as the world’s most expensive flower, but not because of its high price. Due to its blooming patterns and precise care, the fleeting nature of this plant makes it priceless and impossible to purchase. Keeping in theme with its night-focused nature, this plant attracts night pollinators like moths and bats.
