Snacking With Flowers

Flowers are beautiful—no doubt—but did you also know that some are delicious?  There are plenty of flowers out there that work great in a tea, salad, or dessert, and today, we thought that we would share some of our favorites.  So, keep on reading to see which flowers can become a part of your favorite dishes!  Lavender Lavender has one of the sweetest scents out there for a flower, but that sweet-smelling aroma can also translate into taste.  This flower works great on many desserts, including chocolate cake and peach crisp.  In addition, a lavender flower is a great addition to many cocktails, providing a sweet aftertaste and perfume. Borage This star-shaped flower looks like it would give any room a splash of color, but it is also a pretty tasty flower.  Tasting just like cucumbers, they are a great way to brighten up a salad, a glass of lemonade, or a cocktail, such as a gin and tonic. Hibiscus Okay, now the hibiscus is a more commonly known flower, thanks to its presence in many teas.  Tasting like cranberry, a few petals would work great in a glass of champagne, and your guests will be amazed at the artisan spin you put on the traditional celebratory drink. Pansies A staple of summertime, the pansy could be a great addition to an early fall salad.  With a taste slightly resembling that of mint, it is a refreshing way to lighten up a summer-inspired salad, or a sweet-tasting cocktail.  Just drop the whole blossom in there, and see your guests look at it in awe. Rose Rose petals are a staple of romance worldwide, but they work wonders in food.  Think of the sweet smell of a rose, and imagine that as a tasteful sensation of just about anything you can think of.  From deserts to jams and salads and teas, the rose works wonders.  Just sprinkle some fresh petals here and there, and you’ll be amazed at just how good they taste.
