Ghosts of Gardens Past - from Garden of Eden Flower Shop

Hey there all of you Garden of Eden fans! As we're in the midst of Halloween Week, we thought we'd share with you a frightful folklore in lieu of our "Tip of the Week". But, have no fear - our story we're about to share still revolves around gardens. How could it not? President James Madison's wife, Dolley Madison, had a beloved rose garden and vowed it should never be dug up, even when she was gone. However, Woodrow Wilson's first wife, Ellen Louise Axon, requested the rose garden be removed during her husband's first term as president. According to White House legend, when the garden staff walked up to the rose garden with tools to remove it, they were met and frightened by the ghost of Dolley Madison before they could dig up the garden. Believe it or not, Madison's rose garden still stands today, and serves as the backdrop for many presidential press conferences. Now, how's that for a ghost story?! Don't forget, for all of your ghostly floral needs this week, stop by one of our locations and our florists will whip up a bewitching bouquet for you in no time!
