Feature Flower Friday: Red Roses

Feature Flower Friday: Red Roses

Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our new Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Join us today as we cover the red rose! When it comes to flowers, the red rose is simply iconic.  It is the flower that often represents all flowers, and brings the message that many people want to give this Valentine’s Day.  However, despite the usual connotations of love and passion that often accompany the red rose, there are some other meanings behind it that may motivate you to give it to someone this Valentine’s Day. Yes, love and passion are a big symbol in the rose, but it can also represent great respect and courage.  Not only that, but the specific shade of red can alter the message that you are looking to give.  For example, a bright red means love, while a dark red symbolizes mourning.  A rosebud symbolizes youthful love, and can be used to express your feeling to a relationship that is fairly recent.   In addition to all of this, the number of roses that are presented also carry a meaning to them.  A single rose shows love, whereas a dozen shows gratitude.  If you are really looking to make a splash, 50 stands for unconditional love, perfect for an anniversary or a very special occasion. No matter what you want to say with your rose this February, know that we here at the Garden of Eden Flower Shop are here to help.  Just come on in, and talk to one of our experienced staff members—in no time you’ll have the perfect gift for your special someone. Have a great weekend!
