Feature Flower Friday: Petunias

Each week, we will be featuring a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone This week, we’re talking about the Petunia.  Enjoy! The petunia, believe it or not, can stand for three completely different things, depending on the circumstance. Petunias can symbolize anger, resentment, or a soothing presence.  These symbolisms may be polar opposites of each other, but you must remember: When dealing with flowers, the situation in which they are presented in means everything.  If they are presented by someone who you recently had a heated argument with, they may stand for anger or resentment.  On the other hand, if someone who cares about you sends you petunias, it most likely means that they want to spend more time with you because you soothe them.  In addition, petunias are also seen as a symbol of not losing hope Not only can petunias stand for completely different meanings based on the circumstance, but they can also mean different things based on their color, just like roses.  For example, red can stand for passion and love, whereas pink stands for motherly love and compassion. As far as a gift, there are certain situations in which petunias are the perfect gift.  Mother's Day is always a popular time to give petunias, but they are also appropriate for a housewarming gift or even a graduation!
