Feature Flower Friday: Marigolds
Share
Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our latest Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be featuring a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone This week, we’re covering the Marigold. Enjoy! Marigolds are typically seen as nothing more than just a simple garden flower, but the symbolism attached to them runs deeper than you may think. The first bout of symbolism comes in the name itself: Mary's gold. Marigolds, as the story goes, were given to the Virgin Mary by those who could not afford gold as gifts. Despite the biblical heritage, there are also many other meanings attached to the marigold. They can symbolize an appreciation of creativity, a desire for wealth, a formidable hard-working attitude, or a solemn remembrance for someone who just passed. The color of the marigold does not have much bearing on the symbolism, because all marigolds have a tint of orange or yellow petals, which all radiate the sun's warmth. This being said, marigolds are perfect for summer birthdays, religious ceremonies, or memorials for loved ones. With such a wide range of meaning attached, marigolds can be perfect in almost any occasion. If you need a marigold arrangement for any purpose, or if you want to throw in a few in your next flower arrangement from us, feel free to give us a call and ask. We would be more than happy to accommodate your request! Enjoy your weekend, Garden of Eden fans!
