Feature Flower Friday: Freesia

Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our new Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Join us this week, as we cover the freesia flower! The freesia flower is a beautiful, fragrant flower, that finds itself belonging to many a wedding bouquet and thank-you arrangement.  This is a type of flower that separates it form the majority because its symbolism is not primarily one of love, romance, or passion, but rather trust and innocence. Overall, this wonderful flower represents grace, friendship, and the aforementioned feelings of trust and innocence.  Its use in wedding arrangements can be traced back to the 1950’s, where it was used to convey the innocence of the bride, and the trust that the new couple have.  However, this flower is perfect for those who perform well under pressure or stress, making it the perfect thing to give to performers, say after your niece’s dance recital.   To further separate this flower from the pack, the color does not play a large part in the overall meaning—instead, it only highlights and emphasizes the meaning it already has.  For example, a white freesia screams innocence, while a yellow one reinforces the feeling of friendship.  While brides generally stick to the white ones, you can be creative with the colors is any other setting. No matter who you are looking to buy these gorgeous flowers for, know that the Garden of Eden Flower Shop is here to help.  Visit any of our locations today to see what we can do for you!
