Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We'd like to welcome you all to our latest Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Today, we're talking all about Dahlias. Enjoy: Loved and revered for their beauty, the dahlia comes in a host of colors, sizes and shapes. Their lengthy blooms outlast many of types of flowers. Dahlias are known to be a sign of good taste as well. Native of Mexico and Guatemala, the flower eventually made its way to Swedish botanist Andreas Dahl, for whom the dahlia is named after. The dahlias' meaning symbolizes everlasting love and unity between two people - so they are popularly used for weddings. They are also presented as an anniversary flower celebrating 14 years (oddly). However, the origin of this tradition is unknown. If you're planning for a Fall wedding, ask our flower planning experts if the Dahlia would be appropriate to incorporate.
