Feature Flower Friday: Dahlias

Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our new Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Join us this week, as we cover the dahlia! This multi-layered flower can certainly add a “wow” factor to any arrangement or bouquet.  Closely related to daisies and chrysanthemums, this flower has grown to be a common garden flower, constituting the bedding of many gardens in both the U.S and in Europe.  However, one of the reasons behind its widespread popularity is the meaning that comes attached to it. In total, the dahlia flower means grace, finding balance in your life, and drawing upon the strength that is inside of you in order to succeed.  This flower is one that speaks to those who are independent, strong, yet always act with a degree of tact to them.  Remind you of anybody you know?  If so, then this flower is perfect for them. However, many of you Garden of Eden fans know that the color of the flower itself plays a very important part of the message the flower portrays, and the dahlia is no different.  Red really exemplifies the emotions of strength, whereas a pink or a purple speak to more of the graceful side of the person.  Just remember to never give someone a black dahlia, which actually serves as a warning of betrayal.   Overall, the dahlia flower speaks out to those who do things a different way, and who want to explore new things in life—we’re sure that you have a very specific person in mind.  So, why not treat that someone today with a fresh arrangement of flowers from us? Stop on in today and see what we can do for you!
