Feature Flower Friday: Dahlia

Feature Flower Friday: Dahlia

Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our new Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Join us this week, as we cover the dahlia!

The dahlia is a multi-layered flower that is sure to make any arrangement pop, regardless of the color.  Now, while these flowers are sure to stand out, it is not their size, but their meaning, that separates them from the rest. Typically, the dahlia flower represents grace, kind, and inner strength.

In addition, the dahlia is also used for a gift for those who are planning to travel, as it calls on them to use their inner strength and grace when visiting a foreign country.  In a romantic sense, the dahlia conveys commitment, but a black dahlia corresponds to betrayal. When choosing out a dahlia, it is important to note its color, as it can have different symbolism depending on what you pick.

For example, a white dahlia is more focused on purity, whereas a red dahlia is a symbol for inner strength.  To symbolize a big change, stick to a blue or green one. Dahlias are wonderful, regardless of their color or how you plan to use them.  Whether in an arrangement or as a gift for someone, stop on in and see what we can do to incorporate a dahlia into your next order.

Have a wonderful weekend!
