Feature Flower Friday: Cymbidiums

Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our new Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Join us this week as we cover the cymbidium flower! Cymbidiums—or “boat orchids” as they are commonly called, are winter orchids best known for their boat-like appearance.  These flowers look absolutely beautiful in any winter-themes arrangement, but also come with a pretty heavy symbolism attached. Overall, the cymbidium flower represents fertility, luxury, and love.  In ancient times, the Greeks thought that by the male consuming the flower, he can help determine the sex of the baby his wife will have.  In addition, the cymbidium is also a symbol of love, as it is able to grow virtually anywhere, showing that no matter the conditions, love will always persevere.  Also, thanks to its natural beauty, the cymbidium is a symbol of beauty and perfection, perfect to give to that special someone. No matter what you plan to use the cymbidium—for a stunning mantlepiece or for a great gift—know that we here at the Garden of Eden Flower Shop are here to help.  Just give us a call or come on in to any one of out multiple locations in South Jersey to learn what we can do for you! Have a great weekend, Garden of Eden fans!
