Feature Flower Friday: Cherry Blossom

Feature Flower Friday: Cherry Blossom

Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our new Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Join us this week, as we cover the cherry blossom! The cherry blossom: a harbinger of spring, and one of the most beautiful blooms out there today. If you have been to a cherry blossom festival in person, you know exactly what we are talking about )and if you haven’t gone, we highly encourage you to do so!). Native to the Japan—where it is called the “sakura” —the cherry blossom enjoys a great deal of symbolism in the Western world. For us, the cherry blossom can mean the coming of spring, and the short lived beauty of youth. In addition, people use the cherry blossom to signal the coming of a new family member. In Japan, however, the sakura goes a step further to symbolize mortality. Cherry blossoms fall off of the tree shortly after blooming, which is a direct metaphor for life—short, yet wildly beautiful. Although the blossom will fall from the tree, it is possible to get a cherry blossom (or at least a cherry blossom feel) in your next arrangement. No matter what you plan to use it for, just come on in and see what we can do for you! Have a great weekend!
