Feature Flower Friday: Azalea

Feature Flower Friday: Azalea

Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our new Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be feature a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone else. Join us this week, as we cover the azalea! The azalea is a brightly colored flower that is typically used in landscaping to provide some color, but can be just as effective in bouquets and arrangements to provide some pop. These robust flowers are also the birth-flower for anyone born between May 20th-June 20th, but their real power lies in the meaning they carry. Overall, the azalea flower stands for elegance, developing passion, and abundance. A white azalea goes for utmost purity, whereas a red one represents intense passion. Now, these meanings are great, but whatever you do, do not send an azalea in a black vase, as that can constitute a death threat in some cultures. Not only that, but the azalea flower also has a historical implication for standing for temperance, and those who lived in Victorian times wore an azalea to support prohibition. No matter what you plant to use an azalea for (hopefully not for a death threat!) know that we are here to help. Just come on in, and see how we can work an azalea into your next arrangement. Have a great weekend!
