Feature Flower Friday: Asters
Share
Hi there all of you Garden of Eden Flower Shop (and chocolates and gifts) fans! We’d like to welcome you all to our latest Feature Flower Friday! Each week, we will be featuring a different type of flower, the meaning behind them and the reasons you would give or present them to someone This week, we’re talking about the Aster. Enjoy! Asters have historically been known as a very sacred flower, with many ancient cultures believing that it wielded magical powers. Blooming in the warmer months, the Greeks would pull these flowers to be made into wreaths to be placed at altars. Also, the French have a long-lasting tradition of laying down asters at the graves of soldiers, to convey the wish that they made it through the battle. Nowadays, asters are commonly held as a symbol of love and patience. They are the birth flower of September, and also the 20th wedding anniversary flower. One of the cool things about the symbolism of the aster is that the color does not matter--all asters symbolize patience and elegance, regardless of the vibrancy of their hues. The star-flower is the perfect addition to any arrangement, especially one conveying the themes of summer. To add in a few asters to your next arrangement, be sure to ask us when you call. We would be more than happy to accommodate your request! Enjoy your weekend, Garden of Eden fans!
