Buying the Right Chocolate: The Basics

Buying the Right Chocolate: The Basics

To a certain extent, we can all call ourselves experts in chocolate.  Some more than others, but one thing is certain: we here at the Garden of Eden sure love our chocolate--a lot.  So much so, that it is one of our specialties, as we sell fresh chocolate daily which would go oh-so perfect with your arrangement of flowers.  However, just like flowers, buying the right chocolate is sometimes not as easy as it may seem.  So, to help make things a bit more simpler, we decided to put together a basic guide to buying chocolate.  Follow along, and the be prepared to woo that person off their feet the next time you give them some chocolate. One of the first things to consider when dealing with chocolate is the sheer variety there is.  There's milk chocolate, dark chocolate, bittersweet chocolate, white chocolate, and many, many others.  But what specifically do all of these different kinds mean?  Well, the different types of chocolate concerns the different percentage of cacao beans in each bar.  For example, dark chocolate has a higher percentage of cacao beans than milk chocolate, which gives it that bitter flavor. Different chocolate types, like flowers, are best given in certain situations for maximum effect.  For example, if you plan to bring back some flowers and a bottle or red wine for your lady, adding some dark chocolate into that mix will go great, as it is a compliment for wine.  On the other hand, if you plan to go out on a sushi date, then white chocolate is your friend for dessert, as it compliments the spiciness of wasabi. While knowing certain pairings are important, it is not as important as knowing the likes and dislikes of the person you plan to gift it to.  If you know that your man loves his dark chocolate, then go with that every time.  This rule applies for flowers as well, and quite frankly, for any gift you can possibly think to give. If you are still a little stumped on buying the right kind of chocolate for your friend, don't fret!  The next time you come in, ask any one of our experienced staff members what they would recommend; they would be more than happy to help. Until next time, Garden of Eden fans!
